Every company matters

By Alasdair Roxburgh | 13 July 2010

'We only work in the UK – so why do we need to complete a survey which is about global finances?'

This is a question that has been asked by several FTSE100 companies since we sent them our survey to complete. And on the face of it, it’s a good question to ask.

The answer is pretty simple – even companies that only work in the UK can play a role in the solution to tax dodging.

Our survey asks companies for their opinions on the role the private sector can play in assisting development – and every company’s answer here is valuable, even companies that only work in the UK.

On top of this – we believe companies that have no subsidiaries outside of the UK may be at a competitive disadvantage, as some of their competitors are able to exploit lack of transparency through their overseas subsidiaries.

So the more information, opinions and facts that we can gather in the survey, the more we can flesh out a solution to tax dodging in developing countries and the role companies can play in that.

More updates on the progress of our campaign coming soon.
