Ask Cameron and Clegg for climate action in Europe

The coming weeks are a crucial time for tackling climate change. In March EU leaders were supposed to negotiate a package of climate policies to curb greenhouse gas emissions across Europe between now and 2030.

But instead of taking the ambitious action this problem requires, EU leaders decided to postpone their decisions till later this year.

We need Europe to get serious about climate change, and now!

David Cameron has already called for a 50% carbon emissions reduction target across Europe. Now we need him to persuade other European leaders to back this.

However the UK is refusing to back either a renewable energy or energy efficiency target for Europe. These are crucial if the EU is to commit to tackling climate change.

Impact of climate change

Climate change is already impacting the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities. We need strong action to move away from dangerous fossil fuels to clean energy so that we can build a more secure and sustainable future for all.

David Cameron is under pressure from parts of our government to back down on his climate commitments.

Please write to both Cameron and Clegg to ask them to push for a strong European commitment as soon as possible.
