What is the Mass Visual Trespass?

One moment, it is just another building bathed in evening darkness. The next moment, it is transformed into a giant neon sign carrying your messages on climate change.

Mass Visual Trespass, Ironbridge power stationWelcome to the latest, boldest step in our campaign for a fair deal at December’s climate change talks in Copenhagen. This autumn, as the crucial summit approaches, we will be staging a series of projections at sites across the UK and Ireland – our Mass Visual Trespass.

Mass because it’s bringing together voices from around the world, united by one vision: climate justice for the world’s poorest communities.

Visual because we want your messages to be seen by the leaders in the UK and Ireland who are best-placed to deliver this: Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Taoiseach Brian Cowen.

Trespass because Christian Aid thinks the best way to do this is to put your messages somewhere the PM and the Taoiseach simply cannot miss them. No matter where that might be, or who it belongs to.

You supply the message
We’ll make sure it is seen

Our series of public projections will involve us taking a short film of your video, photo and written message – calling on Brown and Cowen to help get climate justice at Copenhagen – and beaming it onto the side of a building or structure.

This is trespassing the easy way: all you need to do is send us your climate justice messages. We’ll make sure the PM and the Taoiseach sees them.

Where and when?

We can’t tell you! Our Mass Visual Trespass (MVT) events have to remain top secret – surprise is one of our key weapons.

What we can tell you, though, is that it’s convenient – you get to take part from your own living room or office.

And while it is a bit cheeky, your participation is completely legal. But for extra reassurance, people can take part anonymously if they like.

What are we calling for?

Without a fair international deal, climate change catastrophe is a certainty. The world’s poorest will suffer the consequences of a bad deal at Copenhagen before any of the rich countries who’ve caused the problem.
